The club organised its first cultural programme, “Kiwian Da Raunak Mela” on 1st January 2021 at Town Hall, Papatoetoe from 6.30pm to 11pm. The function was attended by around 300 people and the fun filled cultural evening was liked by everyone. Arunjeev Singh, General Secretary started the function by giving brief introduction of the club and invited the Chief Guest, Joga Singh who is the chairman of the club to welcome the guests. After his welcome address, Ritu Sharma President took the stage along with co-hosts Vishal Rishi and Rajiv Mehrotra.
There were around 30 artists including children, young girls and women group and senior citizens who performed professionally and enthralled the audience. Songs, dance, Instrumental music, Ghazals and Punjabi beat songs were the highlights of the evening. The most important part of this event was that all the artists and performers were residents of New Zealand and no artist was invited from overseas.
After the cultural programme, the club honoured six prominent persons with trophies and achievement certificates to recognise their contribution and achievements. The persons honoured were- Prithipal Singh Basra, Sgt. Ajit Pal Singh Basra, Jyoti Kular, Harjinder Singh Basiala, Jagjit Singh Kathuria and Gursimar Singh Ahluwalia. All the artists and performers were awarded with participation trophies and certificates of appreciation. The chairman Joga Singh closed the evening by recognising the efforts of all the volunteers and trustees of the club who made the function a grand success. The audience enjoyed the cultural show as well as snacks and dinner full of delicious Indian food.
